Why Association?
Associations. Sect. 6. The associations of the pupils of loyal teachers shall convene annually. The pupils shall be guided by the BIBLE, and SCIENCE AND HEALTH, not by their teachers’ personal views. Teachers shall not call their pupils together, or assemble a selected number of them, for more frequent meetings. (Manual of The Mother Church, Mary Baker Eddy, p. 84:16)
Pupils may visit each other’s churches, and by invitation attend each other’s associations.
(Manual of The Mother Church, Mary Baker Eddy, p. 85:2)
Mary Baker Eddy established the annual Association meetings as a continuing support for those who had graduated from Primary Class instruction. These meetings encourage progress, giving the students an opportunity to refresh and rededicate themselves to the healing practice. In preparation for this day, there is a metaphysical theme every year that is the basis of the teacher’s address and the attendees are given an assignment to focus on and prayerfully prepare for the meeting. Student and visitor questions are also answered at the meeting and all attendees of the Association day are invited to share testimonies of healing thru the practical application of Christian Science.
It is highly encouraged that you attend the Association meeting of the teacher you have studied with. However, if this is not possible on a given year you can request to attend another teacher’s Association meeting. If you are interested in being a visitor, or to obtain more information, to join in this wonderful Love inspired day, please email Janet directly for further details.
